    Default Ethernet vs. HBIRD Link

Wish is the best way to connect my 898 SI to my 858 HD? What are the benefits for each?

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

The Interlink is discontinued and no longer supported in the newer software releases. Ethernet is the way to go.

Differences in Interlink and Ethernet ...

Interlink actually copies Waypoints marked on 1 unit to the interlink and the other unit ...

Ethernet allows sharing of Waypoints without actually copying to the other other unit ...

The benefit of Ethernet is that the Waypoint capacity is doubled ...because each unit can "see" and display the other Unit's Waypoint library (without the other unit's Waypoints taking up library capacity space in the "displaying" unit) ...
    -----

Plus... Ethernet allows sharing of Sonar (in certain instances) ...

Interlink is Waypoint sharing only ...

Thanks for the replies. Does Ethernet share maps as well? Would be nice to only have to buy one of each!
