Depends if you want to have and use maps. The striker shows a blank screen with a position indicator. You cannot load maps to them. That is why it is cheaper.
Why would I pay $200 more for the HB Helix 7 than the Garmin?
I was at BP and that is the difference in cost. I don't need networking ability.
They both have GPS, DV, SV.
Is there a $200 difference??
Thanks

I don't think that is important to me where I fish.
But then it would be nice to have the maps in some instances. I like the feature where you can watch your boat on the map.
I have to decide how much I would use that I suppose.....
This is just my opinion, I really like what I have seen on the Stryker units as far as clarity of picture, but I think if you fished with a unit with a map card that covered the waters you fish that you would be impressed with what you see. I think the Stryker would make a excellent second unit to compliment an existing unit with map card. First thing to find out though is the waters you fish on either the Navionics or Lakemaster cards. If they are then get the helix and a card, if not don't waste the money and go ahead and go with Stryker.

I really like the clarity of the striker.
I am looking at loading Navionics on my notepad and using that in addition to the striker.
I still save some $$ but give up a little convenience having it all in one unit.
But then I have a mobile Navionics unit.
WHY would you pay BPS price when a board sponsor or internet seller can get a Helix7 to you for much less, the Garmin doesn't seem to get discounted unless they are discontinued.
Tabs & phones are hard to see in bright light - the best scenario may be the SV7 for sonar and they do make a Helix7X which I am have yet to see in person, GPS only.

You can contact (have to call - sometimes leave a voice mail):
BBG Marine
Universal Mania
Three Rivers Marine Electronics
shut-up-and-fish
Russell Marine
Not all I listed are board sponsors but I have bought from the 1st 3 with good results and no issues.
You can Google them for website and contact info - be aware that calling usually gets you a better price than looking at the web site's price SO CALL.
