    Default Lakemaster great plains

I am sure this has been asked before but I'd like to know if I'm wasting my money on the great plains chip if I fish spots that I have been fishing for years and have a very good idea on depths and drop offs. I have a helix 7 si. Any input would be appreciated.

I have the V5 version of the great plains cards. The mapping is only part of the benefit of these cards..I find the shallow water highlight and depth highlight features to be very useful..If i find fish holding on structure in certain depths I highlight that depth..then as i motor down the lake I am able to see what waypoints I have marked and if they are in the depth I'm targeting...eliminates allot of water and saves time..Lots of other features also.. worth the money IMO.

Mapping will show you features of the lake bottom not easily recognizable from above ...

And as treelike mentions = the LakeMaster mapping adds extra mapping features like Depth Highlight/Range ...which allows highlighting a certain depth contour (with an adjustable range each side of that chosen Depth Highlight) ...

This will "paint" a green sidewalk on the map (using those chosen criteria) to make contour following very easy by simply keeping the boat icon on the "green sidewalk" on the map ...

It's very nice for lakes that change depth (COE lakes) a lot.

I have several of the LakeMAster chips now (Great Plains and Wisconsin), and will be buying a third (MN) later this summer. I also have the Auto-Chart Pro program. Great tool for lakes that aren't on the chip. I found stuff I had driven by for years and never knew was there. Last time out on that lake I changed my usual course and cruised over the new spot, sonar lite up like a Christmas tree, loaded with Crappie. I marked it, fished it, and have a new favorite spot. The maps are worth every penny.
