Default When have I arrived at waypoint?

With all the waypoint questions lately I have one question. When navigating to a waypoint when have I arrived? Is it when the tip of the boat icon touches the waypoint, when it's over the center of the waypoint circle? Ive also noticed that when zoomed out it will look like you arrived but if you zoom in it steps back again and you are no longer on the spot. Is it best to use the arrival alarm as an indication rather than the boat icon?

I zoom out (say 200 ft ) to see my wp I want to go to then as I approch it I zoom in one push at a time so it won't go off screen continue to do this until your at 20ft then it really won't matter if it is when tip of icon is on wp or center it will be just a few feet difference.

Consumer Sonar unit GPS is only accurate to 2.5meters 95% of the time ...

Which means there is a 8-15ft inaccuracy of the waypoint (both when marking and when returning to) ...

So the relationship of the boat icon with the blue dot waypoint on the Chart view will not be the same "every time" to actually put the GPS receiver directly on the structure that the waypoint on the Chart view is representing ...

The best real world scenario when approaching a waypoint on the Chart view is to be using a wide beam angle (in the Sonar technology that is being viewed) ...such that the inaccuracy of the waypoint position on the Chart view still may show the structure on the display ...

Then find the structure physically with casting or pulling baits thru the structure ...

I had tons of questions about way points and GPS when I first started. This video was of tremendous help to me.

I've always considered "arriving at my waypoint" to be when the transducer starts picking up an image of the cover I've marked.
But, for me, since the transducer to my GPS capable unit is on the trolling motor, I'm fishing well before that image appears on screen (since my rod tips are at least 12' in front of my transducer). Which, IMHO is good, because I want the baits to "arrive" before the boat/shadow is over top of the cover.
