Hypothetically, you are supposed to be able to track contour lines. I personally can't tell you exactly if this works worth a darn yet or not. If you haven't already, youtube search this trolling motor. A lot of guys have done reviews on it regarding the spot lock, heading lock, etc etc. A lot of really good info on youtube about it! As soon as I get mine fixed I will spend a day on the lake testing some of the stuff you inquired about and let you know on it, assuming you haven't already purchased one by then.

You can pick a point and it will go to it, be it a 100' or a mile. It will also head a heading, if selected. Not sure how to tell it to follow a contour. If you ever follow a contour, you can save the track and it will definitely follow the track and you can set the speed to do it.

Yes I have done everything in owners manual. Don't get me wrong , this doesn't happen all the time but when it does it's very frustrating. Turning unit off and back on will usually take care of problem. This usually happens when you make a correction to auto pilot.

During my research on this TM this was an issue for many people that had bought them shortly after they were released, from what i understand they overcome this by updating to a different software version. What rev are you on ?

Im sure someone that actually owns one may be able to jump in

Just purchased a Lowrance Gen3 and linked it to my XI5 - absolutely unbelievable at what I can do now with GPS, waypoints, and navigation! I've always been a Humminbird guy, but Humminbird and MinnKota have a lot of catching up to do now.........

Did you half to purchase anything besides the depth finder to connect to TM?

I had to purchase the MG XI5 Gateway Kit and a NMEA 2000 Network Starter Kit. They were about $300.00 for both. I found the Gateway on Ebay for $215.00.

I've had mine for a month now. I love the anchor and heading functions. Haven't had to reset it yet, I'm sure it will happen at some point. I love it!
