    Default Lowrance HDS 7 Problem

I have a HDS 7 gen2(less than a year old) and this is the 2nd weekend in a row that the depth would flash on and off. Then it would show 56ft knowing that I'm in 11ft of water! It would stop for awhile then start doing it again for awhile. The battery was fully charged the night before so that's off my list. I came pretty close of throwing it in the lake today. Would anybody have any idea why this is happening? Do we have a Lowrance expert on here? Thanks for your help!

You had the right idea but you will lose cash by doing so...if you don't solve the problem and it is still in warranty Lowrance will let you upgrade to an HDS 12 for a couple of hundred dollars more...PM

I have 3 HDS seven touch units installed on my Pontoon with multiple transducers and the point 1 antenna. They work as seen on U Tube. I must be lucky.

Do a hard reset, or update/revert your software if that don't solve it take that back to lowrance.

I've had the exact same issue in years past. More than likely it is a transducer issue. I had it on my downscan/sidescan transducer this summer. Lowrance replaced it.

Your unit is out of warranty (I think). Always worth checking however. I've had little to no complaints with their tech department. Just a side note to people: When buying a new lowrance, make sure you add your serial number for your unit to their website.. this way the unit is registered to you.

IF you know anyone else that has a Gen 2 model... take your unit and connect it to their transducer... if it works, you solved your issue. At least you will know what it takes to fix it without having to spend the money to find out.
