Not that this helps much now, but why not purchase the ulterra with the built in US2. Then you never have to worry about it

That would be ok if all you want is 2d sonar .... If you want down imaging or side scan on the trolling motor you got to go another route .. And that's especially true if you have a lowrance as the cable is too big to fit in the groove in the TM shaft

I do have the built in US2. I use it alot, but I have an expensive graph on the front of the boat and not using it to the fullest capabilities. If I woulda known that I couldnt use HD down image I would have spent half the money and use that graph just like I am using it now. I did not realize how much I like the HD down image. And now I think this trick will work so I am really excited!!!

This his is how I did this set up on my boat .. Shield and saver transducer mount bracket for the 83/200 2d puck and a lss1 structure scan.. I ran the two transducer cables inside some wiring conduit to keep them corralled together... When you raise the TM the cable coils right up at the base of the motor with out getting pinched or hung up ..I think it's going to work pretty slick

I spent Lord knows how much time searching the web for something to protect the external cable. You guys have great ingenuity. Here's a prefab version that I found.

Cajun fryer (a member here at CDC) actually supplies that very system to Precision Sonar ...

The Cable SaverR' can be purchased directly from cajun fryer ...
