Humminbird 788ci problem
I am having trouble with my humminbird 788ci. I can power it up easy buy I can not turn it off no matter how long I hold the power button. I have to pull it from the mount to cut the power. Since I can turn it on, the power button should be working...... Please help.

Try pushing the pwr button on a different side or at a different angle and see if that works. Those buttons can get worn from use or get slightly out of position at times.
I have a 788ci hd and when I power it on, it goes bonkers at times, and a good slap straightens it out, seriously, I give it a good slap, and it works fine. Probably one of the connector pins is loose on mine.

I tried "moving" the button at all side, it doesn't help. I think the power connection is good as it turn on every time with a touch.
no click sound.

Does the power Xpress menu come up when you press the Power bottom one time ...??
There should be a popup with "Backlight"/Sonar on/Background color ...

Come on blue screen "press exit to continue" then another screen with warning. Then after that all button work except the power button.

No, after power on, the power button do nothing anymore, no respond on single press or hold down.
the only way to power it down is to remove it from mount which is ok. I need to adjust the brightness for night fishing if not it is too bright to see. Can I adjust brightness on other menu screen?

If the microswitch were not contacting ... It seems it wouldn't power on correctly either ...
Have you tried Restore Defaults ...??

I agree.restore defaults.If that doesn't fix your issue,maybe u need the unit repaired. (I think ,the only way to adjust brightness,would be using the power button )
