    The best area would be on the side of the jack plate, but you will also need to seal off the interior of the Jp (aluminum plate). Or you can get an echo chamber effect going on. If you dont have the JP then your looking at the step area. Problem is the length of the lss2 sticking out further than what the lss1 would have.

    You want no obstruction on either side of the ducer,,,anything that might block the field of view.
