Here is a link that shows how to do this step by step on youtube. Was pretty useful when installing mine.
What is the advantage of having the transducer on the trolling motor and not the back of boat?
Well first thing if your fishing from front of boat over timber and brush piles your looking real time at what your fishing. If trying to sit still over it easier to stay where you want to fish. Your looking at anywhere from 14 to 23 feet difference between the 2. If spider rigging you see what you pass over much quicker so you can adjust much quicker, mark way points easier.

Looks like I will have to do this. The US2 transducer on my I pilot quit working . I have a Helix 5 on the TM.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
You can see where u r going , not where u been LOL RR
So can I use the transducer that came with the Helix 5 DI-gps on the trolling motor? Or do I need to exchange?
