Hi Guys
I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth on a problem i have been working with since i started
doing plastic and i have finally found something i like. I started out using the thumb screws but it takes for ever to do, screwing all the molds apart. Next i bought the blue vise grip clamps that has the bar u can adjust for as many molds u want. That didn't work for me one time it would work great the next time i would have flashing. So i bought the heavy duty size same thing. So next i bought the C-Clamp worked good but would leave marks on my molds. Next i bought the knock off of the vice grip pliers like welding clamps these were great but would only would clamp 3 molds. I bought the ones that had the moveable pads on them. The handles would get in the way sometimes but was a good clamp. The newest clamp i came up with is a carpenters bench vise i got it at Harbor Freight for around 20.00 bucks. It is great!!! So great i have bought a second one. It bolts to the bench it has two round rods that the molds will set on in the vise, the screw is in the middle is good clamping it will hold 4 to 5 molds u can put a face plate on it for a smooth surface. as the face is a little rough a more costly one may be smooth but it has not marked my molds too bad without a face plate. Also it is more compact than all the other clamps i tried. I know one of the air vise would be great but this vise is 20 bucks and it works. Sorry this is so long and i know some use all the above clamps and they never have a problem. Some even use the spring clamps and they work. But this is the best i have come up with so far at a good price. Maybe this will save others the expense i have spent trying out new ways to clamp molds Cub48
