I've done some M-F but not any of the Calhoun's. While the plastics from different vendors can be different, they all have their good points and bad point. The only way to really find out if a plastic is a good fit for you is to try some. You don't have to buy gallons to figure out if you like or dislike a product. A quart should do it. I use only Do-It plastics, both kinds they stock. Give the Do-It Essential plastic a try. Very easy plastic to work with and very, very heat tolerant.

I for one do not like Calhoun it yellows too fast regardless of if you process it or not I will stick with do- it it has been the best plastic that I've ever used we have used all the plastics on the market and so far do- it has to be every one of them. ctom is right whatever whatever works best for you .

I think one of the problems we see on sites like this is that there is no separation between the home hobby injectors and those who do large batches of plastic, sometimes using complex cooking injection systems where cooking temperature is closely controlled. For the small guys there's a myriad of ways to cook the plastic and every one has his/her own way to cook it even though the utensils used are almost identical. I think at times answers for questions regarding plastic get muddled because large batch injectors who don't have the issues small batch users do offer information and help that simply isn't relevant to the hobby minded.

All brands of plastic are different in composition. Do-It offers the Crystal Clear series of plastic which more advanced injectors seem to prefer while the Essential series of plastic is by far the most heat-forgiving I have ever used. The Essential is also extremely bubble-free as long as it is kept in a dry environment, but like all plastics can show some bubbles should humidity rise to high levels. Even with high humidity the bubble issue with Essential resolves itself easily and quickly. All brands of plastic also handle as differently which makes offering a single simple answer to issues almost impossible when you factor in the multitude of ways that different users handle the plastic.

When I started out in this venture I tried M-F, Bears, LureCraft and the plastic Caney Creek offered. Lordy, people were offering this plastic that was supposed to do this and another offer de-gassed plastic which didn't mean a thing but add to the cost. The Caney Crystal Clear back then got the nod in the end. Caney approached Do-It to buy the company and after the sale Do-It wanted to expand into the hobby level people and needed a plastic that was a bit friendlier to the people who bought into injection at the hobby level and Essential was formulated. The Essential has a solid track record as being the easiest plastic to use with the least amount of headaches followed by Crystal Clear and M-F is next in line. In some instances for some people the M-f may be easier to use than the Crystal Clear, but the Essential is right up front. And to be clear, the Do-It plastics and X2 colorants are company developed products, not re-labeled M-F or Calhouns products.

The only way anyone is going to find favor with any single product line plastic is to try many different brands in quantity and to use them using very tight controls and record keeping. Person A can't speak for Person B's plastic based on the use of a quart. I can offer what I know about Do-Its line of plastic based on my experience with it, but anyone else may not use the cooking methods I use and have an nightmare while using it if their cooking methods and sequences are not in line with mine. But even in use, different plastics act and react differently to different people and its those people who are perhaps more to blame for the bad happenings than the plastic itself. 90% of the issues that arise here are things that can be attributed to operator error. Too hot, too cool, yellowing, incomplete cavity fills....the list goes on....are all issues that fall mostly on the person doing the injecting, not the plastic itself. Each brand mentioned has its own attributes and detractions, yet each has its own successful following. I think that the larger batch makers using the injection machines find favor in a product and stick with it. Us smaller guys have to tighten up our processes and be ever aware of what is going on in what we are doing and how we are handling the products. Its on us, not the products. If we don't develop good work practices and fail to use thermometers [correctly] and take notes, we most certainly cannot expect the products we use to perform well. There are no short cuts even after becoming skilled in the handling of these products.

Agree, whatever floats your boat use it. I do find it funny snake how it yellows easy for you tho. I got a few of the best clear dippers in the business using it problem free.
