If you build with brush spread wide I would not care if they fell over .
Thats fast! I personally have never chummed but the idea of being able to increase those record days is tempting yet highly unlikely, like you said dropped brush in morning by afternoon fish were already checkin inn haha

Persimmon is my favorite wood but any hardwood does good . Remember to sink brush that is not so dense you can't get a hook in without hanging up too much . I remember a article where a biologist recommended 10'' or bigger spacing . That works great with Persimmon cause they have few small limbs .
As far as timing, some produce fish right away and some it maybe months later . Some spots seem to hold fish all year in some lakes where other spots are seasonal .
This is awesome advice. I was worried about them standing straight up but when you think about adding cover to a bare gravel bottom im betting all kinds will come to see the new hangout lol. Does anyone know about crappie and how they interact with other kinds of fish? I wonder if laying down brush vs standing would attract a different type of predator such as big catfish or big bass. I have caught crappie and bass out of the same tree so idk how many types of fish they run with so to speak
I make it a point to drop lay downs and vertical. Like I said ya never know what they’ll prefer day to day. To make lay down just strap weight to bottom and top of cut branch.

I have stakeds and stumps I bait Catfish on and you still catch Crappie in same cover . We have areas of the river folks see lots of Gar surfacing and started calling them Gar holes . In fact they are huge schools and can really see just how many on side imaging sonar . Well I told folks the Gar are feeding on Crappie and baitfish the Crappie are eating . They look like I'm crazy saying the Gar would run out the Crappie . But you could fish through them and catch Crappie . But also catch lots of gar too .
Do not forget or count out PVC.
Nimrod: me n my dad used to catch schooling black bass by finding gar, your right people look at you like why in the heck are you fishing for gar. Thats cool to know that crappie wont get run off completely by a big catfish or gar or black bass. Where im catching a few i have got a few big bass aswell.
