barrel structure
I had access to lots of barrels so I got constructive. The bottom barrel has large holes in it so the big fish can hang out swim thru. The top barrel has smaller slits in it and I stuffed it clear full of osage trimmings. I figured the smaller fish could hide in the top one. I used coated deck screws to attach everything together. My plan is to put a concrete block in the bottom barrel and sink. Time consuming but inexpensive. I wanted to use pallets but they are too heavy for me....what do you think??

Drill you some holes in an "X" in the bottom of the barrel and put some sticks through the barrel to make sure it doesn't tip over.

or (evil laughter sound effect !) get about 16- 18 10 and 3 hole red bricks, several live crayfish and a hotdog and once you get this beautiful and "forever " attractor in place load it with the bricks, stick the food securely thru a couple 3 hole brick and add the live crayfish and GENTLY "splash" it. the crayfish will probably stay and take up residence which means yet another potential food source for predators. lastly LOVE the osage orange branch idea, from the picture would make it a little bit denser but not a whole lot more... the more wood that you can reasonably get away with the more algae, fungi, insect larvae, ect ect.
