Tried to get info on sinking structure here in Michigan. Seems the DNR and the EPA need to get involved, permits pulled, studies done, etc. Is it that way it the south? Funny thing is, you can't put any foreign matter into a river, stream or lake but when you move a spearing shanty you mark the old hole with Christmas trees and brush and that is accepted.

To add cover to our home lake in SW Ohio, we had to get permission from the ODNR, State Park Management, Army COE, and ODNR fisheries dept....we couldn't use metal or tires, only wood or plastic with attached screws in the bottom and then in concrete bases. Trees, brush blocks, etc., had to be cabled and clamped to blocks...they wanted "overkill" so cover could not break free and cause an issue with boaters, or the dam!

THIS will be AWESOME ! allow me to "suggest' going to either a demolition site and/ or building supply place and get your hands on as many buckets of 3 hole and 10 hole red bricks that you can to absolutely LITTER your reef with ! read a story in a fishing magazine (cannot remember which 1 ) about a guy in Tennessee whom gradually built 20- 25 "mini" reefs on his home lake and rarely fished them except during tournaments and did very well in 15- 20 tournaments in a row, winning many. he was invited to fish other tournaments on other lakes but never did very well elsewhere, just his "home" lake. when someone lowered a camera onto his "honey holes' after he left several during the next contest he admitted to building them but the judges ruled that it was technically not "illegal' even if it was at least slightly "questionable". his real `secret` was littering them with the 3 and 10 hole red bricks and then dumping a bucket full of live crayfish from the same lake on top of them thus "jump starting" his "crayfish condos". apparently bass and other fish quickly learn that they can easily suck a mudbug out of those holes very easily. perhaps not surprisingly using a crayfish type lure did rather WELL on them... would have to think that using SOFT CRAWS on them would make for some fast and furious action ! !
