Our Township Road Crews, picks up everyone's Christmas trees at the street curb....all you have to do is drag it outside after Christmas...Lowell set it up that the Township would drop the trees off at our lake (Cost Savings to them)...then Lowell and some guys would get them ready for the yearly drop. HE DID THOUSANDS OF THESE for our lake!
We mainly used Christmas trees as shallow water laydowns or in brushblocks for minnows/fry/baitfish.

I know you have to do some trimming on them to get crappie to really hold in them well . and I have a hit a few over the years that produced really well . our waters are pretty warm most of the year though and things deteriorate quickly in them . am not sure how long one lasts but I know people that still sink them .

Best luck I had was hardwood slabs or slats concreted into two hole cinder blocks. They draw down the lake I fish most often in winter so I would just dig them down into the gravel a little bit and they would stick up.

Cane buckets work well two but I had more trouble with them falling over in the lake than the slat style ones.

I made these too but they were a pain to handle in the boat and you couldn't get very many in it.

actually Sir Intimidator and Co. helped haul more than a couple down to the Marina and/ or Main boat Ramp and load them for their "last ride". over 10 years perhaps 80 persons assisted in 1 way or the other. Fritz (cj polecat) and many others were enormously helpful so many times... we were blessed to have a REALLY "good" bunch of "Friends"!

When I'm back home in Pittsburgh, I'm gonna give you a call Lowell. I wanna go fishing with you and check out your handy work! Sounds like there's hundreds on your lake!
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!
