    Default Invasive grass

My pond is about 1/2-3/4 acre. It is 8' deep. It was built in a sandy soil and lined with aproximately a foot of clay. It has held water very good for 5 years now. I don't have a problem with grass growing in the pond but I have a grass around the edge of the water that is common in the brackish water of the delta and is spreading fast and grows out from the bank with runners extending out into the pond as much as 10 feet. The small fish like it but my wife doesn't. I was considering putting in a grass carp or two to keep it in check. I was wondering if when the grass is eaten back or dies back in the winter would the grass carp root into the bottom for what was left of the plant and damage my clay liner.

I dont think the carp would damage it in any way. We have a pond about 3/4 acre and has one carp given she is about 20 lbs and it keeps the pond spotless as far as alge and grass goes, my neighbor about a mile down the road has a 2 acre pond and refuses to put any carp in and during the summer you cant fish it due to the alge and grass.... Im no expert but I would say go for it.

I guess what I was trying to ask was if they will try to dig up the roots when the grass is low
