Ever tried more uprights
The couple we put out with the blocks tied beneath the pallets allow fish to get UNDER them also...more "cover" for the same effort. And other species will also use it...

Whatever you use it sure works......the ones holding fish were loaded up!!
And, I used to feel guilty about sinking a beer can or two.
First, know that I am not being a wise guy. And, when I am on the lake, my wife and I are the first to pick up floating trash and make disparaging remarks about litterers. On the other hand, I have scuba dived in freshwater lakes and seen the muck on the bottom up close. I have always wondered about the ethics of tying tires and autos together and dumping them off the coast. And, then there is ...the beer can. A small aluminum can weighing mere ounces that will over time provide safe haven to crawfish and whatever finds it inviting. Until it is covered with mud. If I caught more fish I wouldn't have time to ponder stuff like this. Alas, my wife did the catching today, and I am drinking a beer in my recliner.
Funny you mentioned crayfish. We have just completed our 1st "Crayfish Condo" ("CC#1"). Found a nice spot on a gradual 20- 25 degree slope from 4 to 8 fow with the 1st break just beyond at about a 45 degree angle down to 14 fow in about 20`. Dropped 2 marker buoys at 8 fow about 20` apart and creeping slowly forward and then reversing had 2 "Friends" drop about 30 buckets of cement chunks as I tried to pass them forward. We then did side scan views on both sides before returning to reload. After 86 buckets the rubble base was done. Then we added 75 cement blocks and "iced" it with 700 10 hole red bricks. The final sonar passes show a pile with half on each slope and about 20 long, 8-10` wide and about 2` tall...it starts in approx. 6 and ends in about 12 fow...
