• Tville, Back in the Saddle

Been out of commission during the week with the heat and busy work schedule, but I took My neighbors son out for a morning on the water. Had a wheel bearing failure last week on my way home from Cumberland River and I swapped hubs late yesterday afternoon after some liquid motivation, so we were all set. Two 12’ pancake tosses with my net at first light left me with enough shad to line me out for months to come, we use em for trout at the river (anything in that river really) and when I deploy a noodle spread across the bend every blue moon or two.
The shad was just a bonus if it could be done quickly, I wasn’t going to attempt looking and burning away the morning bite, but as soon as I hit the water the lake was swirling with baitfish commotion.
So the bite was good for crappie, the thermocline appears to be on my Garmin around 12’ in the upper reaches of the lake, caught over 100+ today, but I did not catch many keepers. I was amazed at the size of some of the fish we were catching, some 4-5”. Anywho it was a good time and the summer patterns are locked in. Boat traffic got stupid by 11 and we made a dash for the ramp.
*had to sneak in a pic of that stud brown my buddy caught last week..y’all be safe out there
