I use shrimp from Wal-Mart. Raw with tails on
Not an option here in Oklahoma.... Can't use game fish for bait.... I to know that some people use stripers red meat guts and liver after they have cleaned them.... I have watched one guy I know catch tons that way but I am to scared.... LOL.... Don't want to pay that fine.... Cody

Where in the regulations does it state this? I scoured the current regs and past regs to no avail. I pinned down a local warden two years ago and he reluctantly said that it is legal as long as you do not have over your daily or possession limit and they are legally caught. We use cut crappie and crappie heads quite often.
Lol teach me not to do my research I have also searched for it and have found nothing... I was told this by a man that I respect greatly and I would rather be safe then sorry.... I will see if I can get an answer from a warden when I get home this fall.... And I have been on several guided striper trips and the guides have said this.... So all I really have is hearsay and while I have searched for it in writing have been unable to find anything.... If you can find anything the information would be appreciated... Thanks Cody
Here's a response on this very topic from a representative from the ODWC. Fishing Notebook - want and waste Basically, as long as they are caught legally, you can use crappie for bait.
Cut bait is the best catfish bait for me. If I don't have that and want to use a prepared bait I like Benny Roberts punch bait. It catches catfish.
On the cut bait if you can get you some skipjack they are the bomb.
Thanks TMax that was a pretty interesting threat.... I don't know that I would have a problem using the guts and all after I have gotten my filets but why not I normally just bury them in the garden.... Cody

Save A Minnow, Use A Jig
I've caught hybrids fishing for catfish on shrimp too.
A multipurpose bait indeed.
I use a lot of cut bait and trotline minnows
All men are created equal, some work harder in the preseason.
