    Smile San Joaquin River 08/31

Yesterday I went fishing with my dad to the river at Highway 165. It was the first time I fished the river in almost three months. We fished from around noon to 7 pm. We were fishing near submerged wood in five feet of water. We caught a lot of 'gills, but we threw most of them back since they were too small. We kept 12 of the biggest fish, most of which were in the 6 inch range. The largest was a 6.5 inch bluegill. I caught a fish which wasn't a bluegill; it was shaped like one but was a silverish color and had some red-orange color on its ear flap. I think that fish was a red ear sunfish.

Must have been in the Hilmar area, eh? We moved to Missouri from Modesto a year and a half ago. Sure is some good fishing out here and property is SO cheap compared to Ca!
