Size: 47.2 KBThis is Ethan; Gramma sent snacks, drinks, etc. for the fishing trip. We anchored the boat and started fishing. He caught about 6 Bluegills before his Dad & I got started. Then he ate a couple snacks, had a drink, and announced "I got some, I'm ready to go home" This whole trip lasted 40min.

I remember taking my 2 boys, around 5 and 8 years old, fishing for the first time, I had to keep about 200 small bluegills. You know how long it takes to fillets 200 small bluegills with a knife. I'll tell ya, a long time and a 6 pack. That next fathers day the boys got me an electric fillet knife, one of the best gifts I ever got. My boys are now 20 and 23 years old and I'm still using the same fillet knife. I don't know how many hundreds of pounds of fillet I got from that knife.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

Great job, baby step will probably get him right into it. I was lucky, my daughters are 3 and 6, both love just playing in the boat when the fish aren't biting. (maybe we just weren't catching..LOL)
It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.

Great picture. He will remember that trip for life. Thanks for taking the little on fishing!
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Good job. You will have more fun trips I am sure. You covered the 3 main things for a little fisherman. Fun Food Fish. You also quit when he wanted to. Good way to spoil fishing for a little fisherman is to make him fish all day when he's done.

Son, I'm 73 and I have had that ailment since before I was your age; you just have to make your mind up to suffer with it and make the best of it because it may never go away.

You have my sympathy and I will pray that you never get rid of this terrible affliction. Remember, it can be contagious and later in life, your youngins may catch it from you.
