    Man that's a purdy fish!!

It won't be long before we will be slayin' 'em once more. With the coming rains next week, it should cool the waters of the local lakes down considerably.

Thanks for the post and GREAT photo. I know you all had a blast!

Had a great time fishing with Doug and his crew. Glad Wendy came along to help him land that big one.

I have a question but I want to preface it with this. It doesn't matter to me how big any of those fish where. It is a great mess of crappie and I wish I had been the one holding them up and smiling.

My question stems from the fact that on another board this pic was posted and some people are saying that the problem with Greeson is that people are keeping too many small fish and that there should be a 10 inch limit. I am arguing that most of the fish in that pic are 10 inches or right at it.

Just wondering if you measured the smaller fish or knew about what length they were? Am I in the ballpark on the 10 inch estimate. Just curious. Thanks.

Yes, most of the fish were in the 10" year class. We did keep some 9's. What you see in the picture is only what we kept. We caught alot more than that that went back in the lake. Our rule is since we don't have a length limit is 10" unless it swallows the hook. I won't get into a length limit debate because there are just too many opinions and minds made up and I'm just one voice in a very noisy crowd. There are more crappie in Greeson than there has ever been due to excellent spawns and a huge increase in habitat. Quality fish and ample numbers of wallhangers can be caught if one knows how and where. Fishing a deep, clear water reservoir is not the same as a small impoundment or river system, which includes oxbows. I suspect that is the reason some go to a bigger lake and might not have as good a success in the catching department and mistake it for anglers taking too many small fish, etc., etc.
