    Default keeping bait alive ?

working today but going tomorrow and I want to go early, my bait shop doesn't open until 7 . If I get bait this afternoon late what is the best way to keep it alive to fish tomorrow. I will be by myself so I will only have about 1/2 pound of minnows. WILL A ICE CHEST WITH A BUBBLER WORK?

Yep that’s what I do. I have an Engle bait cooler and use that bubbler when in the boat and then hook it up to a fish tank pump when I get home. Just keep cool fresh water on em

I just leave them in the plastic bag with air pumped in overnight, especially when it’s cool. Minnows are always lively when I get to the ramp the next morning.

Give you a hint on keeping bait alive. If you have a feed store like atwoods or tractor supply even a local feed store that sells fine stock salt, you can put about a half cup in your cooler if it's like a 7 gall cooler, and with a small aerator, they will stay alive for days. You can't believe how much livelier they get and healthier. It works well with shad in bait tanks also. I have kept shad alive for a week in a 40 gall bait tank by adding 4 cups of salt and everybody knows how hard they are to keep alive. Most all our bait shops add salt to their minnow tanks in my area. A 50 lb bag is less than 5.00 and will last all summer.

I kept a bucket of minnows alive for 2 weeks recently by putting them in the refrigerator. Didn't do anything other then that. It looked like some were dead but once they warmed up a little bit they were very lively.
