Default Live every day to the fullest

Diabetes, what a way to come into my life on a Monday morning. Felt real bad all weekend just couldn't put a finger on why. Drinking plenty of water and peeing like a race horse I had my suspicions but this morning woke up for work and just was in slow gear. Made my way to the ER after getting a fellow nurse to check my sugar only to find out it was 450. About passed out in the ER. After Iv and hydration and some insulin my sugar is 562. Well looks like a lifestyle change and insulin in the future. Not easy being on this end of the needle to say the least. I have had great care by my fellow nurses and ER physician here at JRMC. Glad this happened today before I was in full blown DKA.
Life is short so live each day to the fullest. God has a plan for me and whatever it is I know he gives me the strength to handle it. I have let the past be in the past and now always looking for the positive in the future.

Dude, get that sugar under control as soon as possible. I was in a cast for 7 months due to bone issues with my Diabetes.....now wearing a double brace on my right foot........but I still got my foot. I am heading to Brewer in the morning to test run my new 20ft wareagle that I have had since late March.....so don't let it get you to the point that you have to not fish 6 months at a time. If you need a list of what not to do......give m a holler.

Best of luck to you sir!

Take care of that diabetes and keep the sugar under control. The shots are not that bad and you want even feel them. Be glad that is the only problem you got I have heart failure, diabetes and cancer survivor. I missed all of 2014 fishing because of various issues and that was tough. Take care of yourself.

In our thoughts and prayers Bud, Some words of encouragement. My Dad has had diabetes for 20 years, he is 77 now and going strong and I am sure you with a medical background you have, you know what you need to do, to make sure you have a good long quality and healthy life. Yes it will be a pain, till you get ust to the routine, but you can still lead a great life and do the things your ust to doing. Stay the course buddy and maybe cut back on some of those red meats you kill every year. HAHA!!!!

Sorry to hear that J.W. I see this multiple times every day as I am sure you do also. I am also sure that I don't have to tell you that the gold standard is "diet and exercise". I have seen folks that lost weight and got on an exercise regimen that weren't diabetic any more. As far as "living every day to the fullest", I think you hit the nail on the head there J.W.!

Sorry to hear that JW, my best friend was diagnosed several years ago. He changed his diet and started exercising and has avoided insulin for years. You'll do what's best, this won't hold you up. Hang in there.
