    Default Lake Brewer Minnows?

Where is good place to buy minnows around Morrilton or Plummerville for a guy wanting to fish Lake Brewer? The only place I am aware of is at Lake Atkins but that is somewhat out of the way if you are coming down I-40 from the West.

    Any suggestions?

Take Exit 108 Morrilton head North about 5 miles to Lake Overcup lake access on the left. You will see the big brown fish and game sign next to the road. Follow road down to Lake and you will run in to bait shop. Junior is the owner and a super guy. He sells them by the pound as well. I have purchased minnows from him for years and never known him to be out. this is the best place around.

Several places just off the freeway if you are going through Russellville/Dardanelle...

Don't know if she's closed for deer season yet, but Jan at Brewer Lake bait shop is on the left side of the road that ends at the north ramp.

    Thanks for the replies.

I've only been to Brewer a couple of times and never to the north ramp. DO they sell them by the pound at Brewer bait shop?

CMJ, I live in Russellville and can tell you that the old standby minnow store at the interstate and Hwy 7n - Super Stop- has turned into Super Rip-Off as far as their minnow selling goes !! They get $2.65 a dozen and stopped selling by the half pound. AND, I think the "minner dipper guy" can only count to 10, coz I've gotten shorted on count nearly every time. Something may have changed there in the last couple of months to make it better coz I have not been in there in that long because of my personal boycott against short dippin minnow dippers !!

I may have to resort to Southern Pro jigs that Nimrod keeps pushin !!! but I so much love being a "Minner Dragger" !!

What about that place that sells minnows in Russellville I think off of 4th street east of Arkansas street a few blocks. I've only been there once, so I don't know really how to tell you to get there. Seems like it might be a pawn shop too.

That's a shame. Used to be the best place around before they sold it to Habib. There is another place nearby. Just off the freeway on 64. Exit #74, I believe.

Yes, MacDaddy, I know where you are talking about. I have never bought any there but I need to check them out..

CMJ, you are correct about the management change- that is when Super Stop went to pot. They first started selling minnows so small it was like fishing with guppies- I think size 8 minnows. I talked to them and told then to get size 6 minnows. They started getting that size and jacked up the prices !!!

I try to buy my own from Lonoke when I am that way, but you have to buy 6 pounds minimum and its hard to keep that many alive in a 50 gallon aquarium for very long. Maybe I just need to start fishing more often and then they would'dt die off on me .......

Also from the Russellville area and stopped getting my bait from the Super Stop for the same reasons. Best place in this area is the Russellville Marina.

Yeah, nobody likes a minner counter! I think they would be better off charging a high rate for a pound. I would rather pay a few extra bucks for a pound, than pay 3 bucks for a dozen and get 11 minnows!
