I must be confused. How can it be illegal to be guided on a WMA when I can buy a guide license for a WMA to guide others??

Resident Special Hunting Guide License (GLS)
Entitles a resident to the same privileges as the GLH, plus the privilege to guide, aid or assist another person, for pay or other consideration, in taking any species of wildlife, except waterfowl, on all commission-owned or controlled WMAs, WDAs and WRAs. The GLS does not include hunting privileges. Proof of residency in the state of Arkansas for one year prior to the application date is required. Expiration date is June 30.

24.08 deals with the guiding on WMA's for waterfowl, not fishing.

I have no idea the warden they finally sent me to talk to forwarded that to me and said that is what covered it. I will forward this to him I hope you are rite I would love to be able to guide on it. Just can't afford to take the risk and get caught like they have done with some cause they didn't take it easy on them.

I thought the water way was a COE owned waterway, The rule is poorly written, and hidden under a waterfowl Hunting reg. They sell you a Fishing Guide Lic and then put no rules how that fishing guide Lic is to be applied to areas. Think I would fight this one in court as it is not listed in the Fishing regulations. Maybe D-10 can chime in his thoughts on this.

I agree that this is confusing. This is the first that I have heard of this reg being applied to guiding for fish. When I get back to work next week, I will try to get some more information. In my opinion ( which isn't the one the counts), this regulation shouldn't apply to fishing. Something else to remember, there are WMAs on many AGFC lakes, including Conway, Harris Brake, Overcup, and Cargile in District 10. I am sure this is the case in the other districts as well.

Russ, according to www.agfc.com, the Dardanelle WMA boundries include all lands around the lake, islands, ... It does not include the water on this one. That's from reading the website and the way the boundries are defined for us to read.

You are correct Russ, the water is COE, not WMA

Now that I think about it, the are WMAs on all of the large Corps Reservoirs that I can think of.

Please see below. This is from Assistant chief of fisheries for the Arkansas Game and Fish.
There are no fishing guide regulations specific to Lake Dardanelle. I only
found 2 guide regulations that don't pertain to permit requirements. Code
27.04 prohibits transfer of trout to clients, and Code 32.02 exempts guides
from having a fish dealers license for providing bait for clients. If you
need any additional information please let me know.

Maybe there is some confusion somewhere?? Also the WMA is the area around the lake.
