    Default Guiding on Dardanelle

Been thinking about doing some guiding on Dardanelle when I herd of a guy getting a ticket for guiding there. Thought I would do a little research on it before I started. Come to find out it is illegal to guide on lake Dardanelle or any tributaries connected to it they are all considered a WMA. I thought I would pass this information on cause I know some on here use to guide there some. Just wanted to give them a heads up cause they said they were going to be checking for it would hate to see someone lose a guiding license over something they did not know! If you have any questions I have the number to the Arkansas game and fish west central fisheries head quarters where I talked to the head warden there.

Good grief. Never heard of such a thing.

OK, I'll guide for free! BUT............... will only take CP, CG, CMJ, Fosh, and.......um.........couple of others. I have standards, you know.

    Default Guiding on Dardanelle

He said it is covered under code 24.08. Fish are considered wildlife ,and unlike a waterfowl guide where he only gets the ticket everyone fishing gets a ticket. He said they were going to rewrite it this coming year where it is easier to understand on the fishing side of it.

Don't have to worry about me guiding there. This year I've sucked fishing Dardanelle. Even with the best of help. Thanks for the info, interesting to say the least.

If it is covered under 24.08, that deals with the guiding of waterfowl on Commission owned lands and lakes. It is legal to guide for wildlife on a Commission owned properety or lake with the purchase of a $150 WMA Guide License. I don't see in the regulations where fish are specifically covered. That is probably a gray area that is under "officer's discretion".

CHAPTER 24.00 -WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA MIGRATORY WATERFOWL
    REGULATIONS
24.01 Migratory Waterfowl Hunting Access Time Restrictions on WMAs
24.02 Special Usage Restrictions on Certain WMAs and Lakes
24.03 Boat Motor Restrictions on Certain WMAs
24.04 Migratory Waterfowl Hunting Access Restrictions on WRAs
24.05 Leaving Waterfowl Decoys Overnight Prohibited on WMAs and WRAs
24.06 Hunting From Duck Blinds Prohibited on WMAs and Commission-Owned or Controlled Lakes
24.07 Waterfowl Shot Shell Restrictions for Certain WMAs
24.08 Guiding Prohibited on All Commission-Owned or Controlled WMAs and WRAs

Size: 115.6 KBWhere it says it is unlawful to take or a temp to take wildlife while guided on WMAs. He said the word wildlife covers fish, he said they were going to reword it next year so it clearly states fish since we are having a question about it
