Went out last night around the mullberry area and got several like this up in the bushes.
Going out on the river this weekend near Lavaca/Cecil. Anyone have any news as to whether they are up in the shallows yet? Went out last weekend and they were still in 13-15 FOW. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply rzrbakhunter. Congrats on the catch! Couple nice fish there. Hopefully they are still on by the time I get out there this afternoon.
Looks like we fish the same part of the river. I live in NWA though, so I didn't commit to the drive yesterday and just floated the creek at home instead. In my areas, I found them suspended about 7 feet down a few weekends ago. I figured it was starting to get better.
Was the water clearing up at all? When I was down there a few weekends ago, it was bad muddy where I fish. Hopefully this rain y'all are getting doesn't mess it up too bad. I'm going to try again on Friday maybe.
When we went out yesterday morning the water was still pretty stained and had dropped almost 3 feet overnight. I think that really messed them up because it fell so rapidly and whenever we were leaving the water was rising very rapidly. I don't think the fish knew where to stage. We found several an 10 FOW about 4 feet deep but they were all dinks. Could not get on the big females for some reason. Hopefully this rain doesn't mess anything up too bad because we are going back next weekend.
Same here I went back Saturday afternoon and only got a couple dinks and they had dropped the water out of the trees I was catching them in. Water was muddy where I was catching them and was in about 3fow and only fishing about 10 inches deep. That's the only thing I hate about the river is they drop the bottom out and it's hard to get them to bite.

That's a full livewell Gindog. You fishing closer to central Arkansas than we are?
I fish the pool below Trimble. Y'all had some low water this weekend, but that's not the case now. The river is ROLLING. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pag...r/htm/ld13.htm
It's over all the jetties right now. Hopefully they'll ease it back down by Friday as that's when I'm planning to fish. Wish they had a temperature gauge on it.
Looks like the really heavy water was short lived. They've got it dialed back to 50k cfs now. That's still more water than is "normal", but it's a lot better than 100k. At 100k, the banks next to what I normally fish would be in 6 feet of water!
Hard to imagine anything can get on a normal pattern when the river can fluctuate so much. I'm sure the water will be awfully muddy, but I'm going to give them a shot on Friday I think. If we can catch them then maybe I'll take my wife back down on Saturday or Sunday. She doesn't like to go unless I'm already on fish, and I'm just not a good enough crappie fisherman to catch them unless they're on the banks.
