    Default Millwood info?

I'm not sure why but my sons and I are hoping to make our annual trip to Millwood soon- maybe because we haven't been skunked recently and we are about 50/50 on that score at Millwood! We just really love the experience of fishing there really. Any reports on the lake? General areas where the spawn might be underway? Thank you for any help you can give us. It's a long drive to take a beating.

My dad and friend went today, Monday March 30, and caught ZERO. Had one decent crappie on and let him get off right at the boat. Lots of boats, but no one was catching fish. That's what I was told a little while ago, anyway. Hope that helps a little. GTT

I am heading out right now for the 5 hour drive- maybe I can at least try a different spot if you know where they fished. We are planning to start on the north end from Okay Landing area. Thanks for your info . At least we won't be hearing " you should have been here yesterday!"

If I was going to Millwood right now I would be launching at Yarborough Landing and vertical jigging the standing Cypress in that area with a white/Chart tube, or Baby shad type bait, 1/16 or 1/8th oz Pink or Chart head and tip with a nibble. Worked for me many years ago when I fished it. They will be spawning somewhere in there just got to find them. Get on Google earth and zoom in and you will see why I am giving you this tip. Give it a try and good luck.

They put in at Okay Cement and fished shallow in the grass. At least 40 boats in that area and no one was catching. I believe it's the weather and not the fish. They said the water looked stained and off-color. GTT

Fish are late moving into shallows due to cold high muddy water for the past month. It will be a couple more weeks of warm weather to move them up. Very few are being caught right now.

Thank you both for the helpful comments (almost) . I left for there before I got the message and spent 3 days mostly enjoying the scenery- caught 37 in 3 days between the two of us- I have done worse.

Made two more trips with my sons since the first trip and about the same results. In talking with locals it seems like the shallow spawn never really occurred this year. Or maybe they are still at it or soon will be once the high and cold water settles. I guess I've rocked my old Tracker off enuf stumps for this year but does the spawn ever extend into May that far south? Have you done any good this year M Lip Ripper?
