    Default Greeson Trip Report

For all y'all Closed Mouth Sucka's, I'll be happy to give every detail of my fishing/camping trip to Lake Greeson. I am not selfish at all! I'm a Sharer!

    1. I caught nothing. Nada. (well one little goggleye). Not a bite. Not a nibble. Not a hint of a bite. Nothing. Scary nothing.

    2. I fished every way I knew how, including the new ways I've learned since going with one of you guys. I found brush piles and fished them hard. Jigs. Minnows. Both. I "Longlined" all over the lake (man I love that sportbrella). I pulled cranks. I didn't specifically spider rig, but I did have multiple poles out doing what I call 'strolling'.............

    3. I launched on the east end. I put in on the west end. I put in at the middle. I fished my old haunts where in the mid 80's I caught a limit every trip out (albeit in April every year, which MIGHT be the real answer to this...this being June and hot). I went everywhere. So did water lice, loud boats, funky boats, party barges, and stuff I can't even categorize.

    4. Nothing. Not once did I get what I consider a 'crappie bite'. Nothing.

Now, I admit I have fun on Crappie.Com............but I really do know how to catch a few fish now and then. Not always, and no, I'm no pro like many of y'all. But I have fish in the freezer, the 'old way'. This time was the first multiple trip time I can ever remember that I NEVER got a nibble.

I know this lake has guides. I think one left out for parts unknown, and I don't blame him. I looked at one of the guide's websites, and the pictures for the last 6 weeks are for "5 fish", and "8 fish"........and mostly bream (which I shoulda taken crickets). That shoulda told me.

But the trip was more about taking Mama and going camping somewhere new. And Kirby Landing is a Boffo place to camp! Lovely! As for camping, we had a ball.........

But fishing? No luck at all. But at least we were at a lake that wasn't 15 feet high, and it was nice, and good weather. And I ate a lot.

Now, my kids that are scattered all over the USA are coming in this week for my Birthday, and then we go camping with wife's kinfolks at end of month on Greers, and then..............then I go sit in the a/c and wish for September!

    The End.

That's why it's called fishing not catching. Good post and glad you and Mama had a nice trip.

Yeah. I enjoy every day in some way. Every single one. An L.A.D. M.I. will do that to you!

OH....and Deezer did call. He was headed home from Branson and had big time car trouble...........same kind I had last year, and it ain't no fun, and EXPENSIVE....so I felt bad first for him for having an expensive breakdown on the road, and 2nd because I'd sure have loved to have fished with him.

    Good luck, Deez.....hang in there.

    I always do.

Always. Sometimes it takes a bit of creative genius, but hey...........what can I say?

Great report! Glad y'all had fun. We made it home and the truck seems to be running like it should. Thankful we were in town when it broke down and not out in the boonies.

Fish are always biting , just your job to find them. But last part is not the easy one!
