    Default Questions about fish structure

How long does it take crappie to get on cedars?
My next question is with all the new sonars out these days can PVC be spotted on graph or not?? I've sank PVC once before but not sure what happened to it. I've even drug weight around trying to find it and couldn't. Me and a friend had a PVC figs structure idea so wondering if it shows up?

I have trouble see'n PVC pipe buckets on my Hummingbird. Sometimes the buckets with rocks shows. I catch more using wood anyway. I perfer Hardwood as it out lasts Cedar Trees and less hang ups. My hardwood trees or stakebeds usually produce quick as anything .

I've placed cedar trees out and caught fish in them the next day. As you probably already know, depends on where you drop them and the time of year. As far as finding pvc pipe in the water, I've had issues with some of the smaller setups like pipe sticking out of the coffee can, but the larger racks seem to show up pretty good on my structure scan.

I have a couple of "pvc fields" that I know of because I saw them in drawdown water. But I can't see them on depthfinder. Someone told me, I don't know if it works, to wrap cable through the pipes and then the sonar can find 'em. Don't know if it works, but if it does, it seems an expensive method to allow someone else to find YOUR structure@!!!

I can see the G&F PVC fish structure on both my Humminbird 597 and 587 units at Lake Maumelle.

I've heard you can put aluminum foil on them and they will show up but I don't know I think if you had them weighted good enough and marked them on gps they should still be there I've only made some with bamboo and five gallon buckets because they are easier to transport and give you more coverage when you put them out

Thanks guys, I talked to an IL friend that fishes the crappie circuit a lot and he told me on his 997 he can't spot it but it does become visible once alge really cakes up on it and that the crappie/bait fish won't use it much until alge grows on it. He told me he had been sinking those pre-made PVC balls a lot but recommended taking sand paper to rough up the sticks of PVC where alge would get on them faster. I put out cedars a lot this winter, even some bigger trees, and I just sank 4 cane buckets here a couple weeks ago. I still have 2 buckets to sink and enough cane cut to make one more bucket. Hopefully I didn't wait to lake to get them sank. Now that spawns over most everywhere I'm hoping to start the brush fishing. I've got another idea which involves one of those old plastic basketball goal bases stuffed with PVC and weighted. Other than being able to be seen I guess you could take a screw gun and drill PVC sticks on a pallet to make a stake bed of sorts. I know Nimrod has mentioned doing that before and pallets last a while. So who's ever heard of drilling holes in cane then running seedeater string through it as structure where it floats up like an underwater fence??

I glued caps on the ends of my pvc pipes trapping the air in them and I can clearly see them on my DSI.

Mr nimrod showed us how to build structure with pallets and put them in a square or circle 3-4'ft apart on the first drop off of a spawning flat ideal depth 8-10'!!! We have the structure marked by GPS!!! Gets you in the ball Park or close!! Then use roadrunnners to find the structure!!! Has worked great!!! We just keep adding structure(pallets)(time allows) as we can!! Have placed them out and start catching fish the next day!!!
