    Default Lake Conway Report

My wife and I fished Lake Conway Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. The bream were all but jumping in the boat. We threw very few back. The majority good size. I cleaned fish until midnight each night. The fish fry with some neighbors on Monday was wonderful. Fileted bream are hard to beat.

I suspect it will be near impossible to launch a boat at Conway when they draw it down 4 feet in July...so if you love to bream fish, now's the time to get after it.

Good to hear that you had fun on the water. I guess you got in enough fishing to last you for a little while. One good thing about Conway, people only go to fish. I guess that I need to get out there and try to round up a mess for the freezer. The crappie aren't doing anything on the river. They are on a pretty strange pattern. The last few that I caught out there were about 3' deep on the bottom and very, very scattered. I guess we will have to wait until they stack-up again.

What part of the lake were y'all fishing?

Hey schood boy, I bet you would kill for a trip where the fish were scattered and not doing anything next fall or spring. Enjoy it while it last.

Chris, we were fishing an area across from Paradise Landing. Over the years I've found you will find bream bedded up in just about every part of Lake Conway. Just start fishing down any bank and chances are you'll find them in a few minutes and they will remain on the beds throughout summer. It doesn't happen often but getting onto a bed of redear is hoot. That usually happens randomly and by accident, usually when I try fishing the bottom in the middle of a cove or something just to see if something is there.

How much does it cost to launch at Paradise Landing?

Right now it costs nothing to launch. The owner has been quite ill the past couple of years and there's no one there. The ramp is difficult to launch from because it has little slope. It's a little easier with two people.

Another option if you want fish that end of the lake is Pierce Creek access on the souther part and most eastern arm of the lake. I'm told that ramp is in good shape. Take the Mayflower exit, turn right (if coming from Little Rock) and it's a few miles up the road (Highway 89) on the left.

Another landing in that area is Highway Landing (Mayflower Exit, turn right and it's about a mile down the highway on the right. It's a steep, narrow ramp that drops off quickly. It costs $2 to launch. You will be on the backside of the Highway 89 bridge, which you can cross under and keep left and you will be across from Paradise Landing. It's kind of confusing. You need to buy a Lake Conway map.
Thanks bigbass12 thanked you for this post

After reading up on your report, well, I just had to go this morning. I was fairly confused this morning. I couldn't figure out where everyone was, and then someone told me that you don't have to pay right now. Then came the boat ramp. That was a pretty good surprise too. I had to back-up about 8' out into water to get the boat off. When I came in to the ramp, Smitty was there. I chatted with him for awhile. I found a pretty good bed this morning. Mostly males. Found one shellcracker.
