    Default 10 ft jon boat

Im thinking about getting a 10 footer to throw in the back of the truck and fish a few hard to get to places. Im thinkin a 10x36 alumacraft or perhaps one of those plastic two man's. Which is one do you think is better and why...thanks for all replys!!

I fish out of a 2-man for this type of water. I've had a bass
Hunter but have a pelican 8' now and it's much lighter.
The plastic boats are easy to fish out but crowded with two
People so I suggest the 10' flatbottom if you'll be fishing
Two people most of the time.

I have had the plastic 2 man and it is really stable for it's size. But if it were me Id look at a 12' with a 40-42'' bottom. Still able to do everything a 10' could and would be able to fish two people with the possibility of a small outboard.

Have a 12' with a 32" bottom and I love it. Have one of the plastic one man boats, and I hate it. It cracks and its heavy. I'd go with the jon boat if it were me. You can't hardly tear them up.

I fish out of a Pelican 10ft with my son. Really like it. We are both over 250# and it is very stable.

I have fished from most every type boat mentioned above and would not recommend a 10ft boat jon.... I have never seen any adult be able to sit on the front of a 10ft jon without the back being out of the water. Its funny to watch someone go to spinning circles when a stiff breeze comes up. 12ft boats are much more stable and tend to stay in the water much better when sitting on the front seat. The plastic boats are stable but do tend to dry rot over time and a little heavier than a riveted jon. Most 12ft jons are around 80 pounds and plastics are around 100 pounds. For me it would be the aluminum!!!!

The tip of the day is to carry an empty 5 gallon bucket when going old school and fishing light out of a small aluminum boat. You can dip up a 5 gallon bucket of water and set it on the opposite end to offset your weight. When others are spinning in the wind, you'll be rock solid.

You'll thank me later for this tip of the day

I've got a 12' / 36" aluminum jon boat. It's light enough that I can take it off the trailer by myself for maintenance or to get in a pond with no ramp. A 6 hp evinrude pushes it economically. My girlfriend & I fish out of it comfortably.

another tip of the day is a rudder if you are fishing by yourself. it will keep you from "spinning" around. the first time i fished out of my 8 ft plastic boat around and round i went. when i got home i rigged up a rudder and put a stop to that. and it will work for a small aluminum boat too. rcc needs to be making my paddle boat paddle.
