    Exclamation Looking for advice!

The wife and I usually like to escape the northern chill over her spring break the first week in April. She works for a local school district. We've done KY lake, and Reelfoot. I was looking for advice on a new location to try this next spring. She has some kin folk around Pocahontas and I thought we might try your neck o' the woods come April.

I have read a few posts by Nimrod and others, and done a little research. I would be dragging my fifth wheel/boat, so looking for lakes like Nimrod and Greeson that have some campgrounds w/ launches. What waters do you think would treat us the best that time of the year? Thanks.

Pocahontas is in a different part of the state than either Nimrod or Greeson. I don't know much about that area.
If I had my choice in April, I guess it would be Greeson. Jerry Blake and his troops have done so much habitat work there, I always have confidence I am going to catch something when I go there. Matter of fact, that's where I am headed for a four day weekend Friday.
Nimrod is an excellant choice as well. Nimrod and SlabBandit keep plenty of cover in that lake too. But, the levels are so unpredictable that I don't know if I would plan a trip that far away.

Nimrod is flood control , but you can check the Lake level online and Greeson is'nt much farther but may have the same problem if we get a flash flood.

I personally like Daisy State Park on Lake Greeson and Lake Ouachita State Park at Lake Ouachita - beautiful country!

The first week of April is usually prime spawning time on Greeson, depending on the weather of course. I can give you coordinates for over 800 Bamboo Crappie Condos we've put in the lake so you would have plenty of places to fish. The water usually isn't up in the Buck Brush until mid to late April and this year it never really got up that far until the fish were already moving deeper to spawn with the water temps warming up and the water clearing up. But, we've put in a lot of shallow condos you can fish around and the staging beds usually produce very consistently that time of year. As already mentioned, Daisy State Park is real nice, especially the newest area, which I believe is Area D if you make a reservation. There is an area in the back of the cove that Area D is on where you can pull your boat up on the bank or I can line you up for a slip at Self Creek Marina, which is just over a mile from Daisy State Park. We'll have both shiners and rosy red minnows there at the marina and I can let you know what color jigs are working for us. It would be great to meet another Crappie.comer for sure!

A huge thanks to all for the advice. Jerry, I'll be talking to you real soon about that info. I see by your site that you personally are booked already that week, but we'll talk soon. Thanks.

You would be as close to sardis
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

You would be very close to Lake Charles, Lake Poinsett, and Greers Ferry if you didn't want to travel very far from Pocahontas.
