    Default live minnows

Hi to all where can I buy live minnows for crappie fishing? And what kind of minnow works best for crappie? I am looking to buy large quantity. I did some research on minnows and YouTube that makes me want to get some minnows. Any places near Cabot that sales them? And I need to buy the bucket also. Where can I find the bucket? Thank you all for reading god bless.

Look in the yellow pages for bait stores in your area. If you have a tank with airater you can buy in bulk (min of 6 lbs from Minnow farms around Lonoke). I never use anything but jigs.

Buy a watering trough from Tractor Supply and get a good aerator. Keeping minnows is all about the water. You will need some bait saver for sure.

I have had a tank for a couple of years. Tank is around 100 gallons I have a bio filter made from a 55 gallon plastic drum. Water is pumped from the bottom of the tank through the bio filter and returns to the top of the tank. One thing I found is that Prime from the pet store is cheaper in the long run than the yellow bottles of tetra water conditioner you buy from Walmart. A small amount of prime treats the whole 150 gallons when I do a water change. It took two bottles of tetra to do it. It is nice to have minnows available. I work nights on some of my days off I make wake up at midnight after the bait shops have closed and can't go back to sleep. I go out and net a few and go fish a while. Plus you don't have any left over bait from fishing trips. I have seen some people dump them out. I just return them to the tank. I have had allot of people give me there leftovers when they were done fishing also.

Go to Walmart and buy the RV water filters and you don't need to treat the water. Those filters remove the chlorine and metals. I use one all the time without treatments. The key to keeping minnows is to exchange 75% of the water every 4/5 days. More often in the warmer months. The RV filter makes it a breeze and they last for a loooong time.

You can buy minnows in bulk from the fish farms around Lonoke and Carlise. The ones I deal with have a 5# minimum order for wholesale.

There is a minnow farm in DeValls Bluff, AR. I do not know what you mean by large quantities. Its an hour drive from you.

When you buy minnows in bulk from any of the farms, they will put them in plastic bags with oxygen. If you keep them cool they will survive in that bag for many hours.
