Yo Yo TOTD #2 Location. Like every other sporting activity it is all about Location, Location, Location. The follow is how to place your Yo Yo's to maximize your fishing opportunity.

    1. Tie on Cypress limb head high and hang as near to the boat run as possible. Equip with treble hooks. This will immediately snatch intruders from their boats that are attempting to fish close to your fishing hole thus maintaining your personal fishing privacy on the public lake.
    2. Equip with mono filament line with light wire hooks tied on every 12 inches. Stretch just under the water surface, across the boat run, and tie on the opposite side. This will disable the intruders equipment and stop them in their tracks thus maintaining your fishing privacy. A persistent intruder may need sets of both number 1 and number 2 to ensure he is significantly discouraged from making his way to your fishing hole.
    3. An orange buoy is a sure sign of fish. I have learned from a member here that it is OK to fish someone elses buoy. When I see this opportunity I use a cane set which entails sticking bamboo up around the buoy and tying on a yo yo's. I would suggest leaving the gas engine running during this process just in case the buoy owner objects and has a firearm handy.
    4. Of course the very best place for a yo yo set is on the same tree as someone elses yo yo. They have obviously done their home work and found fish. Don't worry if there is only one place to tie a yo yo on the tree, a handful of 16 penny nails and some scrap lumber will ensure you have plenty of spots to surround their yo yo with 4 or 5 of your own. Of course accomplishing this may be time consuming if you are trying to get a treble hook out of your body that some idiot had tied too close to the run or if you are untangling mono filament from your prop.

Hope this helps you to be a more successful auto fisherman.

#3 will be on its way soon, I promise. When I run out of bull, crappie season is officially open.

Another fishing tip I would like to share with you applies not only to yo yo fishing, but all fishing...

You gotta know when to jig em'
    Know when to rig' em
    Know when to yo yo
    Know when to bomb
    You never count your crappie
at the campfire before you catch em
There'll be time enough for counting when the fishins done.
