new guy needs help

hi guys, i am new to fishing, i have tried several times at cowan lake and caesars creek. any advice? i have tried minnows, i am fishing from a small 16' bow rider, and a cheap eagle fish finder, i can use any help or advice you guys can give. I will be going to cowan lake again sunday

You really don't need a boat this time of the year.. Or with this water temp anyway.. They on the banks right now.. Pretty much the same pattern across the nation I would think.. Depending on water clarity they should be in 2-10 foot of water.. Look for wood (laydowns, stobs, stick ups, root balls in in 2-10 FOW and hold on!!
