Subject: 1957 vs. 2007

Scenario: Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1957 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal.
He returns to class, sits still, and does not disrupt class again.

2007 - Jeffrey is diagnosed with A. D. D. And given huge doses of Ritalin.
He becomes a zombie. School gets extra money from State because
Jeffrey has a learning disability.


Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his dad gives him
whipping with his belt.

1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

2007 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is placed in foster care and joins a gang. State psychologist convinces Billy's sister that she remembers
being abused herself, and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's Mom has affair with psychologist.

Scenario: Mark has a headache and brings some aspirin to school.

1957 - Mark takes aspirin in lunchroom and headache goes away.

2007 - Police called. Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. Car is searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario: Pedro fails English in high school.

1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2007 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appears
nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English teacher is banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given a diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from 4th of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle blows up a fire ant hill.

1957 - Ants die.

2007 - Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Homeland Security, and
FBI called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates parents; siblings are removed from home, computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad goes on Terror Watch List and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He
is found crying by his teacher who hugs him to comfort him.

1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2007 - Teacher is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job She
faces three years in state prison. Johnny undergoes five years of therapy.

And people wonder why this country is in such a mess...

You dont even have to go back to 1957. Even in 1987 the top rules applied in my neighborhood. My butt stayed sore...The degradation of society, and it's happening right in front of us.

when the 10 laws went out of school the 45s came in I was raised by the whole town where I grew up you needed your butt busted it got busted, and the parents were ok with it cause i needed it... what a country we live in glad I can gripe.... good luck next generation

I just read in the paper today here in Brunswick county NC that a principal was nearly attacked by a woman who was upset that her son was grabbed by the shoulders and shook while being stearnly talked to. She was so upset that she removed her children from the school and then went to a board meeting and started a fight with the principal in the parking lot. The mother is working a racist slant but the principal has a 15 year history of being a good egg. Sounds like just the type of crap being described here. I cant count the number of "paddlings" I got all the way up through junior high school.

Got one to add Drifter106.This does not pertain to all men but if we had less of them our children and society would be better off.
1957 Father was a respected part of the family and was the main bread winner who was responsible for his family and everyone looked to him as a role model.
2007 Dead beat dad divorces mom and thinks responsiblity stops with signing of papers children suffer and forever affected.Mom left with the responsibilty of both.
Sad but this is one reason for large breakdown of society and morales in out country
