Default I don't think Amazon JP is for me

I have had good luck with Digitaka, and I have considered trying JDM Tackle Heavan, as they tend to honor the current exchange rate when Digitaka doesn't. I read her where folks were ordering from Amazon JP and thought that would be a safe bet, but it is just not for me lol. I ordered a rod on the 20th of April and when it hadn't shipped after three weeks I contacted Amazon and they said that was a bit unusual and would open a ticket. It shipped a couple of days later, Finally got to California and now it seems to be stuck there lol. The only updates that I get are a notice saying "package transferred to another carrier". The same notice 7 times over the course of 7 days. If this were and expensive rod I would be very upset, as it is not though, I am just annoyed and a medium level lol. I think I will try Tackle Heavan for my next purchase. They don't seem to offer free shipping but they don't play funny games with the exchange rate either.

So, funny story, right after I posted this thread, I got a shipping update from Amazon. My Daiwa trout was out for delivery, in Los Angeles, I live in TN, time for a customer service chat with them again. As I am having a lovely chat with the rep from Amazon who is explaining to me that he can see that, just 45 minutes ago my package was put on a plane bound for Nashville. As I was calmly questioning why it was marked "out for delivery" if he can see that it was just put on a flight, he was trying to explain that the plane was going to bring it directly to me (you can't make this stuff up) and I would have it today. As I was about to just unload on this poor soul, UPS pulls up with my rod. I apologized to the nice person, told them my rod was just delivered and informed them there may be an issue with their tracking system, but I had my rod.

Lol it was! I have the rod and all is well. I have just never seen tracking info go so squirrelly before.

Lately , even domestic Amazon deliveries are questionable.
I had a couple of orders that went through the tracking fiasco and I finally got a refund after they determined my orders were lost . 3-5 days after they decided I could request a refund.
Took about three weeks . Total was just over $10 worth of plastic baits .
BTW , on the other hand, I ordered a reel on Sunday from Digitaka and it was delivered yesterday. Three days !

My experience with them so far has been good but this makes me wonder. Glad you got your rod. Which one did you get?

It is the Daiwa Trout X 5'6" XUL. It was mentioned in a post back in April. Here is a link to it

    Amazon.com : Daiwa Trout X N at 56XUL, N Black : Sports & Outdoors

Gillchaser, I did the same. I made a Digitaka order on 5/9 and had it in my hand on 5/15. Like I said, I hate the shenanigans they pull with the exchange rate but the free shipping and delivery times are hard to beat.

Amazon Japan won’t be able to compete with Digitaka on shipping speed. I’ve bought a couple of rods and one reel from them. The delivery estimate was approximately two to three weeks. The rods arrived before the estimated delivery date, but I recall that the reel took longer. I’ve also ordered parts like carbon fiber reel handles and knobs and they too arrived earlier than the estimated delivery date.

On a brighter note, at least with Amazon you shouldn’t need to jump through hoops to get a refund if the package never arrives.
