    Default Ultralight……..Ultralight combo

I think I’ve asked this before , but I think it was on another forum which is no longer secure according to Safari.
My lightest combo , according to posted weights is my 5’ St Croix Avid ULF (1.9oz) paired with a KastKing Zephyr 500 reel (5.6oz) . Total 7.5oz
With my latest reel , a Shimano Nasci 500 FC at 6.0oz , the total goes to 7.9oz
I need to get out my scale and get an official weight .
Most of my combos less than 6’ are right around the 8oz range +or- a tenth or so.
I enjoy fishing with an ultralight wand . None are JDM
I’d like to get a Shimano Vanford 500 . At 4.9oz , I could really get the weight down .
    What’s your lightest combo ?

Gillchaser, I’m at exactly or close to your setup: Abu Garcia Eradicator 510ul/ Shimano TwinPower c2000s - 7.9 oz

Except this reel is ALL metal saltwater reel! How deep is my wallet is the question. The world’s lightest available rod own by a member here I believe weighs in at 1.16 oz (33 gram.) I can’t even imagine what it would be in-hand aboard the new Abu Zenon 1000s (142 gram) reel!

My lightest comes in at 6.7 ounces. The Diplomat Extreme 6' 2" UL weighs 1.6 ounces and the 2021 Presso reel weighs in at 5.1 ounces. If the new Eradicator Prototype 4' 6" was not a 1 piece I would already have one...it comes in at 0.95 ounces. Transporting 1 piece UL rods to me is an accident waiting to happen...and if one breaks the Prototype you gonna cry a long time....LOL.

Alphahawk, I don’t see it anymore difficult to ship out a 1 piece (short) rod comparing to if it was a 2-piece 8 feet bass rod. However the cost might be an issue considering most Japanese online store saying or hinting they will charge more because it’s 1-piece. The 5-1 Abu prototype is looking good as well BUT it’s an L rod. Cheers!

Not worried about the shipping cost. I don't like transporting 1 piece rods back and forth to the water.

I am sitting at 7.5oz with two different 6.10 rods paired with the 17 Daiwa Presso 1025. The 6.10 ABU Eradicator and the 6.10 Corto both come in at 57g and when outfitted with the 155g Daiwa we are weighing in at 212g. Anyone got anything longer and lighter

Oh wait I have the 20 Luvias that comes in at 150g for the 2000 size. That puts me at 207g for those combinations so we are looking at 7.3oz. Oops

Gotcha! And if one is to do so, using the tube that came with the rod might not be a bad idea...lol.
