This will cover most but I’ve run across some charts in Japanese that are a little more comprehensive but can’t find them just now.

Best I can tell the F stands for Front Drag (was made in Japan) and the H is just the model series in line starting with FA, FB etc. Think they are on FJ or FK now.

Shows you how much I have kept up with the Shimano Bass sized reels and models. I did see an Icast 2020 video where a New USDM model Shimano was released. The Vanford I think, to replace the Stradic Ci4 line, and be super lightweight but strong. The 500 size of the new series coming in around 140 grams, but with the traditional deep spool that holds 4 miles of line that is typical of US reels. Since changing over to the JDM shallow spool models I see not much need in the deep spools for my applications on my lakes. I was just amazed when I found/remembered the extra spools that the Japanese manufacturers used to send us for free.

Yeah those were the good old days. I have a stable of seven 1000 reels that I use....yet I could use a few extra spools. Of course we’re all different but I too see no need for deep spools on UL reels....or even the 2500-3000 series used for bass.

    Regards

I had a rough day on the lake today. Don't tease me I'm new at this. I pond and creeked fished all my life. I fished out of a pirogue(either paddled or trolling motor only). I live in Louisiansa so creeks behind my house also. I have a bass and crappie over-population problem in my pond. Is one of the my excuses for the JDM light tackle. The other is I'm going to lake fish too.. finally. LOL It isn't as easy as I hoped. There is a learning curve for me. I fished a new lake for me today(every lake is new). I stepped on my sunglasses while re-tying. Destroyed. I guess I punched my graph buttons to fast and froze it. I'm lost now. 2 hours later I find my launch site in a torrential rain storm. HA! I can't wait to go tomorrow. Is there something wrong with me?

Nope, just a fisherman dealing with buggy electronics and fits thrown by Mother Nature...... a typical day on the water when your feet leave the bank and go into the boat!

If they came out with shallow spool versions in 1000–2500 size, this would've been my next reel. It is essentially an improved version of Soare/Complex/Cardiff Ci4+ with X-protect and Micromodule gearing.
