Nice fish, I have heard Lanier is a good Spotted Bass lake.

Lanier is 4 feet over full pool and has been flooded for weeks. Many ramps are closed.

I fished 'toona twice last winter, out of Blockhouse ramp, when I first got my boat. I caught some crappie and a few bass, but have not been back since. I know it can be a good fishery, but the drive kinda sucks with the traffic. I heard there was a pretty good white bass run, and a lot of folks catch limits of crappie and shellcracker, so I want to revisit the lake. It's an hour over there, but only 15 minutes to Lanier (depending where I launch). I was determined to "figure out" how to fish Lanier first. Think I'm starting to get a handle on it; I've found some good fish, but haven't put together numbers yet.

You can't swing a dead cat, I mean throw a crappie jig, without catching one. I tell folks that if I fish for bass, I won't catch any crappie, but if I fish for crappie, I always catch both! All my JDM rods have been tested on them, and performed well, IMO.

This is one badass rod btw, looking forward to using it.

Thanks for the reply. Works for me, but first I've seen a rod look this way.

Man you got a good eye. I was cleaning the Corto tonight and decided to take a closer look. There is a very tiny bulge.....I mean it is barely discernible.

Taken me quite a while to build up the rod arsenal I currently have. It’s a pretty good feeling to have an UL selection that can be used for about any type....and size....of fish. They finally slowed the flow at Normandy today. I used the Fine Tail Banshee 6 foot SUL to catch right at 100 stocker trout. Nothing big.....just run of the mill stockers. But with the rod....some current....I had all the fun I wanted. It sure felt good twitching a Trout Magnet and feeling that jolt in the Banshee when they hit.

If only catch and release was an option here in SoCal...Crowds catch the limits on the days of stocking, which are followed by near exponential decay in numbers over the subsequent days.

This tailrace gets 28,000 trout each year for 7 miles of the river. Usually by the end of March you will be catching 12-14 inch fat fish. I suspect why I did not catch any bigger fish was they probably stocked at the bridge I was fishing at in the last day or two. By the end of July they will all die off. Sad thing is creel clerks show only about 7,000 of those 28,000 trout are harvested. I’m always catch and release on trout.....don’t care for the flavor.....but even if I enjoyed them I just no longer like to clean fish.....LOL.

    Regards
