Size: 91.3 KBwas throwing up Saturday night. Felt pretty good Sunday morning so went and fished. Only fished about an hour before I got sick as a dog again. Caught 5 nice ones and saw this big boy in the pit everyone else has been seeing him in. BIG!!Didnt stick around long. Still not feeling well. Think it’s something I ate Saturday.

I remember the first time I saw that guy quite a few years ago. I was coming out of the old creek to where it meets limestone creek in a canoe. I saw his head crossing ahead of me and it took quite a while to wrap my mind around what I was seeing. I had seen the smaller ones before, but not him. Cool to see in our area.

It’s cool to see as I’m paddling by. But not when I’m pretty sure there’s slabs within a few feet of it. Lol. Do you think every time we see a big one it’s the same one or are there several around that big?

I think in that spot it's the one big male and a few smaller ones. I know there are more big ones out there, but I think the big males are pretty territorial. I've seen another one that size over at Blackwell Swamp

I've seen two smaller females in Limestone that hang with the big male. There's a pair in Blackwell Swamp also, the male is almost as big. The rest I've seen in Indian Creek, Flint Creek or other sloughs have been small, maybe four feet. I'm guessing those are young from one of those groupings that survived their first winter. There's lots of back water on Redstone Arsenal that's off limits, I'm guessing there's another pair or grouping there.
