I would not plan on anywhere this spring. Weiss (Coosa) will crest tomorrow at 572 thats 8 feet above summer pool. Guntersville, Wheeler and Tenn river lakes all above flood stage. Maybe Alabama River or somewhere south of here.
Ok fellow crappie catchers, my family tries to take a big trip to crappie fish every year, this year we are planning a trip to Alabama in hopes of catching some good but numerous crappie. With that being said we are spider riggers to the bone, what lakes would you recommend and what time of year would you consider the best to come? Thanks so much

All the water in the Coosa now will be flowing down to the Alabama River soon. It will be a while before things get back to normal for all of them.

I wouldn't plane on coming anytime soon. If it quits raining now it might be good in a week or two but weather man keeps calling for more rain. I want to fish bad but everything is a mud hole

Weiss and Neely Henry are both good fall lakes especially if you like to spider rig. Guntersville is huge body of water and can be overwhelming. In the fall you would also be dealing with a lot of aquatic vegetation at the big G. Wind is also a constant concern at Guntersville. For fall fishing I would recommend Weiss or Neely.
spend a day with candm guide service on martin learn the ropes stay in wind creek park then fish on your on, the rest of your stay. he will limit you out show you the ropes
If you a spider rigger April or may would probably be a good time. Next few weeks will be bad for any fishing

I'd recommend lakes Weiss, Neely Henry and Logan Martin on the Coosa river system, Martin and Weedowe on the Tallapoosa river system and lake Eufaula. All these lakes have
excellent locations to stay and great food. These lakes are loaded with crappie and other species of fish and the fall fishing is excellent.
