Waterdog, I promise I didn't read your post before I posted that. LOL
I made a quick trip the wind is tuff and cold ! Only a gar and a Gill was all I could get to bite n Rosebery!
So I let my son talk me into going fishing. That wasn't too hard for him to do, so I decided to go to Short creek so we might get out of the wind. It was 41 degrees when we got to the boat ramp. It started raining before we got the boat unloaded, so I decided to go sit under the bridge and let him fish. The wind was howling under that bridge. When we pulled under the bridge an enormous cloud of fish were on the depth finder. I told him to get up on the front deck while I held the boat fairly still with the big motor. He hooked a crappie on the first cast, got it up to the boat and it got off but I did see it. After that I decided we'd both fish so I tried to use my spotlock under the bridge. That was a mistake. The boat almost rammed a piling. I then tried to tie off and my boat kept wanting to bang into the piling, so off we went to the back of the creek to get out of the wind. I was trying to get rigged up to pull jigs on the edge of the creek channel and show my son how to tie on 2 jigs to pull. Our hands were wet and so cold that neither of us could feel our fingers. I decided to rig the poles and let him stick them in the rod holders. Before he got the 2nd rod put into the holder, he caught a yellow bass on one he had set out in his holder. Before it was over he had caught several. I've never targeted them before and surely won't ever again, but when it's a nasty day, any fish caught is better than nothing.
We ended up trolling up the edge of the channel, back to the pumping station, and he had a bigger fish on at one time, but it got off before either one of us saw it.
It was an absolutely miserable evening for both of us, but we got out, enjoyed a little time together and didn't freeze to death.
If I had been able or willing to sit under that bridge, we might have had an epic afternoon, but we might have sunk the boat in the process.
Go fishing when you can! Cause it’s good for ya! Oh and remember that your unit don’t have signal under a bridge (lol) glad yaw got out for a bit and made it back safe and yes you need a psychologist for sure! Just for the record I’ve been setting in a warm recliner with feet up while you out in this 40 degree weather with 10+ mph north wind!
