Thread: long lining

I longline exclusively all year. You can check out some of my pictures on the NC board. I do not use any minnows jigs only and have done well even with water temps in the 40's. The key is to get the jig down deep enough and the fish will let you know the speed and depth you need to be at. I'm not bragging it's just how I learned to fish for them years ago and this is what I fill most comfortable with on catching crappie. You would probably have better luck spider riggin or pushing jigs if they are real deep but they can be caught in January and February long lining starting with a 1/8 pounce jig with a # 5 split shot or even a 1/4 oz jig. Start with different combos until you find the fish.

Basically they are the same thing except pushing your moving faster than just drifting
