Default 2nd Kayak Trip Report, Madison County Lake

I gave Madison County Lake a try today from 7:30AM till around 1:00PM. Rough day, only caught three Crappie. I never found the fish before the wind got up and it became impossible to spider rig. The weatherman said 4 MPH with gust to 8 MPH. The wind was closer to 10 MPH with gust to 15 MPH. Oh well, I did get to watch a Bald Eagle catch what looked like a 12 to 14 inch bass early in the morning. That alone made it worth the trip. The lake is about five feet low, very clear and 53 degrees.

DB: Glad you get around and explore so many waters. Good on you for giving it a try. Hope you have a better catch next time. Awesome seeing the Eagle. I am going to be limited in my fishing to weekends for the near future. Son of a gun, I'll be going back to work starting next week...right during fishing season.

I had called earlier in the week and they said they were not going to be open until 1 Dec. :-( I would have liked to have gone to try the trout.

Sounds like a fun day DB even in all the wind. Have you ever tried to just wind drift? I do that in my canoe at times and catch a fair number doing that.

The wind was so hard I was drifting at almost 4 MPH, LOL! I may have to buy a drift sock.

By the way, people were cleaning up on the trout. One guy said he kept a limit and tossed back a dozen in an hour.
