Question Marina/Mechanic near Madison/HSV or Decatur?

    Hi All,

Well, I've decided to put a hot foot gas pedal in the new boat. Any recommendations for that type of work around Madison, AL? I have a G3 180 Eagle with a 115 Yamaha. Does it need to be done by a Yamaha dealer/marina?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/suggestions.

I would check with Tennessee Valley Marine. I have not had any work performed by them but know of others that have. They will schedule the work so you can bring the boat in for a certain period instead of dropping it off and them getting to it when they can. I just purchased a lower unit from them but did the install myself. The price was less than I expected.

Why did you decide on the hot foot? I know others like them but I hated mine!

The Boat Wrench on south pkwy in Huntsville is usually who I go too. I would imagine they could install a hot foot for you.

Scott, the hot foot is actually a great safety item. It allows you to drive your rig with both hands and not have to mess around with the hand throttle. I had one on my previous boat and loved it. It is much easier to control and has a quicker response than the hand throttle as well. You are the first person I know that did not like theirs. I'm a short guy so my only concern is that when they install it they do not put it too far up under the counsol and it is comfortable for me. I'm sure when I give them the instructions that it will be put in for my short legs.

    Thanks guys for the recommendations.

Hey Bob - give Mark a call at Tennessee Valley Marine. Like Scott said, he will set up an appointment for your rig and dedicate time for it instead of it sitting around on the lot for a week before they work on it. Good quality work and tell them we sent you ( that should cost ya a little extra - second thought .. may not mention us ). I have had work done there as well as some others here, and was pleased with the work.
