I used to fish alot of bass tournaments and I have seen this very same thing happen on the same side (looking down the ramp on the right) several yrs ago they called a wrecker service to get pulled out but it didnt break the axle off. Glad you alleast got to catch some

You would think they'd dump some chunk rock at the end of that so it wouldn't blow out from the boats!

I thought the same thing, they should be able to fix that. Especially with the money they bring in. If someone pays a launch fee I would think the marina would have to have insurance to cover those types of things.

Here is some first-hand insight. Same thing happened to me at Whitaker/Honeycomb long ago before they redid the ramp. It had a big hole at the end. It comes from everyone revving the engines to get the boats on the trailers. We tried everything and were about to have the same result as you.

We even unhooked it and tried to do it by hand and that made it worse. That was real stupid, it took everything we had to get it hooked back to the pickup again. Then, a couple guys came up in a boat. One guy had it happen to him. He told me to get in the pickup and he held the back of the side guide bar at the end of the trailer which lifted the tire straight up and when I eased forward it caught on the back of the ramp. He had me slowly ease it up so he didn't get hurt.

Now, if you don't have a side bar in the back, like most of us don't now, I'd suggest using a push pole to catch the trailer and lift it from your boat as far back as you can. All you have to do is lift it straight up, and it is a lot easier to do than you'd think. I guess you could even use some rope and do it, too. You'd have to get wet to put it under the trailer, but at least you get the hell out of there.

I'll never forget our fiasco. The key is getting that tire up and it comes straight up real easy because it has a tire which is light and the back of the trailer is pretty light, too, when it is submerged under water. It makes it much easier to do. It's dangerous for sure for the guy doing this from the front of the boat, but it's really your only way out without doing the damage you did - and it works!
